Breaking Down My Investment Portfolio

Ben Felix argues that his personal portfolio is intentionally simple and not purely wealth-maximizing, reflecting his view that money is a tool for a good life. He emphasizes that personal finance is personal and that not every decision needs to be rational.

The Truth About Leveraged ETFs

Ben Felix argues that daily-rebalanced leveraged index ETFs are not inherently value-destroying, contrary to the common belief in volatility decay. He explains that volatility drag comes from the volatility itself, not the rebalancing frequency, and cites research showing that leveraged index ETFs have been beneficial for long-term investors. However, he cautions that leverage is risky and only suitable for those who can tolerate extreme volatility, and he is highly skeptical of single-stock leveraged ETFs.

5 Money Choices for a Better Marriage

Ben Felix argues that couples who approach finances as a team—by combining accounts, making decisions together, and aligning spending habits—tend to have more satisfying marriages and better financial outcomes. He also notes that prenups are underused due to negative signaling, but understanding the default legal arrangement is crucial.
