Low LTV Doesn’t Have to Limit Your Ecommerce Growth

Brands with low LTV and mediocre margins can still grow profitably by focusing on creative volume and marketing moments rather than relying on high customer lifetime value. The speaker argues that most ads lose money, but a small percentage of winners drive all the value, so the key is to increase the number of ads launched while reducing the cost per ad, such as through creator platforms that pay only for winners. He also emphasizes building a marketing calendar around cultural moments to create urgency and drive efficient spend, as demonstrated by a Bible brand that scaled 4.4x by aligning campaigns with events like 'See You at the Pole.'

Is Your Black Friday Ad Spend Actually Driving More Sales

Luke Austin argues that Black Friday and Cyber Monday media spend is often less incremental than brands assume, and running conversion lift tests during this period can reveal drastically different incrementality factors that should inform ROAS targets and budget allocation. He also predicts a shift toward decentralized, creator-led marketing where brands equip dozens of creators with flexible offer parameters to produce unique, high-volume content and live streams, rather than relying on a single centralized campaign. This approach requires brands to relinquish strict control over messaging and focus on core product value and financial guidelines.

Black Friday Strategy for the Power 30 Days of Q4

The BFCM Prep Checklist: From Least to Most Impact

The speaker argues that for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, brands should prioritize making more ads over optimizing existing ones, as the point of diminishing returns is far beyond typical ad volumes. He recommends at least doubling ad production from the previous year, using a sequence of frames, statics, and videos built from evergreen content with the offer overlaid. He also emphasizes simplifying offers to at least 20% off, increasing AOV through bundles, and timing email/SMS blasts to peak buying hours.

Skullcandy Is Building Black Friday Demand With TikTok Shop

Skullcandy's VP of global marketing argues that TikTok Shop's main value is demand creation across all channels, not just its own sales, and that brands should think consumer-first rather than channel-first. She explains that increasing creator velocity unlocked the platform for them, and that creator campaigns for specific products directly correlate with retail sell-through. She also notes that Black Friday spending is not incremental on the day itself, so they invest ahead of time and harvest on the day.
