Optimize AI credits with the Figma agent

To use AI credits efficiently with the Figma agent, the speaker advises providing clear, specific context in prompts, which may cost more upfront but reduces rework. For example, instead of "Design a settings page," use "Design a mobile-first settings page with sections for account, notifications, and billing." The speaker also recommends limiting attached context, starting new chats for new tasks, and using skills or plugins to avoid repeated credit costs.

Getting started with Code Layers | Figma

Code layers in Figma let teams start design work directly from a product's codebase, which the speaker argues is more grounded than starting from scratch. The agent can generate multiple design variations from a prompt, and users can duplicate layers to explore independent branches, extract code as editable design layers, and push changes back to the repository. The speaker demonstrates combining two explorations into one layer and creating a pull request, showing how code layers facilitate collaborative iteration.

Figma for Edu: Working with typography systems

Miggi argues that building a typographic scale with Figma variables and composite styles lets designers manage type at scale across brands and responsive layouts. He demonstrates creating variables for font family, size, line height, weight, and letter spacing, then bundling them into a style that can be applied and updated globally. He also shows how the Figma agent can generate a type scale and styles from a prompt, but notes that designers must still critique and correct the output.

Designer & Creative Director Ben Ganz Shares His 11 Biggest Design Inspirations I Source Material

Ben Ganz argues that a physical library of reference books fuels unique design work, unlike online research which leads to copying what everyone else sees. He demonstrates this by showing how merging two different references, like the playful USM Haller furniture system with other inspirations, can create something new. He also emphasizes the value of experimental, maximalist design from the 90s, such as Nest magazine, which pushed the limits of print craftsmanship.

Build a toolkit your whole team can use with Figma Motion

Figma Motion lets motion designers build reusable motion toolkits without leaving the design tool, the speaker argues. By using components, timing and easing variables, and custom animation styles, teams can keep animations consistent and easily update them across a project. The speaker also highlights generating custom plugins with the Figma agent to automate repetitive tasks.
