I made a digital back for the Mamiya Press (medium format CCD)

The speaker builds a digital back for a Mamiya Super 23 press camera using a 22-megapixel Kodak medium format CCD sensor, adapting the design from a previous DIY mirrorless camera. Key challenges include driving the sensor with higher voltages and tuning the correlated double sampler (CDS) phase settings, which the speaker optimizes through a parameter sweep. The final camera works, and the speaker adds a feature to transfer images to a custom Eink badge, though the project is still recent with few sample photos.

Turning an Eink Badge into a pocket color eReader

The speaker argues that by creating custom waveforms, an E Ink Spectra 6 screen can be made to refresh fast enough for interactive use, despite its nominal 30-second refresh time. They demonstrate this by turning a conference badge into a pocket color e-reader, achieving a fast monochrome mode and a 2C color mode, though color quality drops to about 40% of the full gamut. The speaker notes that this hack is not a replacement for stock refresh modes and that the firmware is still in development, lacking a phone app and requiring a Python script for file transfer.

GameBoy Emulator on ESP32 + Eink (M5Stack PaperS3)

Build a GameBoy emulator on an ESP32-S3 with a high-refresh-rate E-Ink display, using a buzzer for sound.

How I made a 60fps Eink Monitor, the Modos Flow

Learn how a custom FPGA controller enables a 60fps Eink monitor by treating each pixel as an independent update region, overcoming traditional speed/contrast trade-offs.
